Get the Cheapest Gas in the Area!
Hey y’all! My name is Marcus. In order to get by as a student, I drive around food orders. Each week, I drive about 500-750 miles all over the many districts of LA and Ventura County. For this reason, I have taken lots of observation on gas prices and done some calculations that I would like to share with y’all. I hope that we all can save some money each trip to the station which inevitably adds up over time. So save now and forever!
Tip#1 Avoid Gassing Up in Malibu!
Oh, our beloved Malibu, how you rob us so sweetly every time! Gas in Malibu is most often between ~$3.45/gal. and ~$3.75/gal. (and we’re just talking regular unleaded), but there are other waaayy cheaper options within the same radius from Calamigos ranch. You can fill up every time for about as cheap as ~$3.oo/gal. to ~$3.10/gal. in other places! Ok, here’s the math:
10 gal. of gas fills up my car
my car gets 25mpg
best scenario: each $1 = 8 miles
in Malibu--- in Calabasas---
total price: ~$37.50 total price: ~$30.00
savings of ~$7.50!!
For my car, this means an extra $7.50 to buy gas at $3.00/gal., which means the best case scenario is that each $1 ino the tank gets ~8miles. Finally, this translates into another ~60 miles each trip to the station.
For my situation, this is a savings of a couple hundred miles each month, which as a driver, is the essential element for continuing to sustain one’s self.
Tip#2 Gas is usually more expensive along the highway!
Along Highway 101, there are dozens of gas stations that receive high volume traffic all day, every day. For this reason, gas stations along highways are a bit more expensive (between ~$3.25/gal. to ~$3.75/gal.).
Exception: The Speedway Station off on the corner of Kanan Rd. and Agoura Rd., before merging onto the 101 hwy. The price here is most often between ~$3.10/gal. and ~$3.20/gal.

Concluding Thoughts
I find it a true blessing to live, learn, grow, and work in this magnificent area, but there are many ways in which its grandeur can sink our accounts on a daily basis. I hope my lil observations serve to inform or help y’all out in the future :)
