Coffee Shop Blog

If you are looking for a delicious cup of coffee to go with your study sessions, but do not want to make it at home or go to Starbucks, then the coffee shops listed below will be great for you! Due to Calamigos’ prime location, you are close to many coffee shops on both ends of Kanan Road, with pastries and gelato to accompany the espresso.

If you are looking for a cheap, yet quality cup of coffee, then you need to head on over to Emil’s Bakehouse in Agoura Hills, just right past the exit out of the canyon on Kanan Road. The best part about going to this shop is that alongside your cappuccino or latte, you can dine on phonomenal pastries, such as: opera cake, meringues, various breads, tarts, and strudel. This family-owned bakery is the perfect place to fulfill your caffeine needs and sweet tooth!

Right down the road from Emil’s is a lovely chocolate and gelato shop that serves delicious lattes and cappuccinos. One of the great things about Tifa Chocolate and Gelato is that they have a unique variety of syrups and flavors to go in your coffee. There is a small outdoor seating area with access to wifi so that you can study with your cup of coffee and some gelato on the side!

Another shop near this area is Carrara Pastries, with an assortment of pastries and various types of coffee. This shop contains great lattes and a particularly delicious mocha that can be paired with the multitude of pastries. Typically, there is an indoor seating area where you can study and drink your coffee, but for now they are offering to-go orders.

If you need a great, outdoor location to study (pandemic-permitting), then I would check out Bonibi Coffee in Agoura Hills. This shop has a variety of latte flavors, fast wifi, and a beautiful river to study next to, with some of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had in my life. This is a great place to study if you want a louder environment to study or complete your work.

If you are looking for coffees with unique syrup or roast options, then I would recommend going to Le Café De La Plage Malibu to grab an iced rose latte or a Yin Yang, infused with charcoal. Although this store may be on the pricier side for buying coffee, it is definitely worth the whimsical flavors and convenient location. Make sure to check out their ice cream and pastries too!

On the other end of Malibu, near campus there is Blue Bottle Coffee in the Malibu Country Mart. Blue Bottle serves unique styles of coffee for a higher price, but better quality. I highly recommend their cappuccinos, New Orleans cold brews, and brown sugar blondies! This also has great outdoor seating and is in close proximity to campus.
